Wimbledon 2008

Venus Williams defeated her younger sister Serena Williams in the Ladies Singles Event. (7-5, 6-4) It was a very graceful and competitive match to watch. This is Venus’ fifth Wimbledon title. Like the commentator said, this year’s Wimbledon game will feature players with names he can pronounce.

A notable CHINESE female player who made it into the quarterfinals, Jie Zheng. Represent!

However, she played Serena Williams in the quarterfinals. No way would she have won. She is listed as 5 feet 4 inches and a half. She lost 6-2, 7-5.

Maria Sharapova. A huge disappointment. Not that I like her anyways but prior to Wimbledon she told the whole world that she would wear normal tennis attire. Liar!

Here was her practice garb.

This is what she actually wore.

Check her gu-I mean grit! She lost in the second round.

Tomorrow, Federer and Nadal go at it again. Federer is the favorite as always. I like Nadal though.

My dream is to have court side tickets to a Wimbledon finals 🙂 It would satisfy both my London and tennis fetish. I don’t know if I’ll be at the U.S. Opens this year. I really do but I might be off to college before then.
