I didn’t write “fell off” because my toenail didn’t fall. I didn’t exactly pick it off either. See, the bottom hinges were slightly elevated enough for my finger nail to tug a little. After much tugging, the whole nail shifted!! I FREAKED OUT. Oh my gosh…

Okay, if you have a queasy stomach, don’t read as I describe what it looked/felt like. Also don’t look at the pictures. So the first thing is that there was still goo underneath the nail. It was like I was taking an alien from it’s egg or something. The nail had a lot of dried blood on it and there is still dried blood on my toe right now.  I don’t want to scratch it off. I will wear socks more often so I can spare people the hideous sight. Another interesting thing is that there is a depression in the middle of my toe. I don’t think the new nail has completely grown out. My tugging probably caused the old nail to prematurely “come off.” So the tip of the nail is still very tender, almost like skin, and I am very scared of tearing that portion. The whole nail is quite delicate. I wonder how my toenail is going to grow out, if it will ever be normal again. The good thing though is that my toe feels lighter, if that makes sense. Didn’t you know toenails weigh a lot?

Pictures are inside but fair warning: it is not a pretty sight. On another note, I haven’t been able to blog or do much of anything because I have been ill. I pretty much stayed in bed for the past 36 plus hours until this morning.
