A Massive Solar Plant in Vatican City

Not affiliated with anything in the Vatican City, but I think it is awesome that the tiniest country in the world is planning to build the largest solar plant on the face of this planet.

The 740-acre plant will be near Santa Marie de Galeria and will generate power for the 40,000 households in the City. This project will cost $660 million. The Pope is trying to green-ify everything including the proposed electric Pope-mobile as well as re-generating his summer house with methane from his horse stables.

  2. Solar photovoltaic power is great distributed energy — no middle men, no losses on long power lines.
